You’ll take a relaxing stroll through the leafy historic district of Fredericksburg and learn about the founding of Fredericksburg and its German pioneers. You’ll see log cabins, fachwerk architecture, Sunday houses, German pioneer limestone homes, grand Churches, Main Street, the Vereins Kirche and the historic 1882 Courthouse!

The cost is $20 per adult (16 and older); $10 per child; children 10 and under are free.

On the first Saturday of each month, the tours are at 10am and 2pm. The 1882 Gillespie County Jail is open and a part of these tours!
All other days and times are by appointment. Please contact me to book an appointment.

The tours last about one hour and 45 minutes. The tours are 1.5 miles long (only six blocks, but the blocks are long!)

My family has been part of Fredericksburg since the founding of Fredericksburg. My great great grandfather, Amandus Stehling, was one of the original German pioneers, having arrived in January 1847.
The tours are not a commercial venture for me. I provide the tours based on my love of Fredericksburg and my desire to preserve the rich history of Fredericksburg and the German pioneers.

With this enchanting, breezy bike tour in the Fredericksburg Historic District, you’ll discover the rich history of Fredericksburg and its German pioneers. You will explore the outskirts of the Historic District and see log cabins, fachwerk houses, Sunday houses, the most famous pioneer home in Fredericksburg (the Tatsch home), the 1899 Bierschwale home designed by the famous architect Alfred Giles (who also designed the Pioneer Memorial Library), and other sites you won’t see walking down Main Street!

$50 per person if you use one of our bikes; $25 per person if you bring your own bike.

The biking tours are available seven days a week and are by appointment.
